Lord Baltimore Lions Make a Difference: Generous Donation to Food Bank of Delaware Benefits Local Families

The Lord Baltimore Lions Club is starting its ninth year of volunteering at the Food Bank of Delaware in Milford. The club lends a hand two times a month. They work on the second Monday afternoon and the last Friday morning of each month. John Monahan, the Service Project Coordinator, mentioned that adding an extra shift has allowed more members to pitch in. Over the past eight years, around 26 members have stepped up to help.

“We usually have six to eight regulars at each visit. Some members come to both shifts,” John shared. “Even though our seasoned volunteers are feeling the years, we all leave tired but happy, knowing we are making a difference.”

During a recent visit, the club proudly presented a $1,000 donation to support the Food Bank’s important programs. This donation came from fundraising efforts, boosted by a special grant from the Delaware Lions Foundation.

Helping those facing food insecurity is a significant mission for Lions worldwide. The Lord Baltimore Lions Club also supports the Feed My Sheep Program at Mariners Bethel Church in Ocean View. They collaborate with Mariners and other churches in the Southeast Sussex Ministerium to provide food to families in need every Tuesday as part of the Frankford Food Distribution Program.

Located in Ocean View, the Lord Baltimore Lions Club serves the communities of Bethany Beach, Clarksville, Dagsboro, Frankford, and Millville. If you’re interested in learning more about their efforts, check out their website at lordbaltimorelionsclub.org.
