Louisiana Tech University’s College of Business and School of Accountancy recently achieved reaccreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). This places them among the top 6% of business schools globally.
AACSB accreditation is highly respected. Out of over 1,000 institutions worldwide, only 197 have added accreditation for their accounting programs.
Louisiana Tech has held AACSB accreditation for its College of Business since 1955, making it a pioneer. It was one of the first 20 universities in the U.S. to receive separate accounting accreditation and the first in Louisiana.
Dr. John Lauck, director of the School of Accountancy, highlighted the role of faculty, students, and alumni in this achievement. He noted their dedication helps maintain the school’s legacy of success.
Several factors contributed to Louisiana Tech’s reaccreditation:
– A 5% increase in undergraduate enrollment and a 47% boost in graduate enrollment since Fall 2019.
– Rising rankings from U.S. News & World Report for both undergraduate and graduate programs.
– A 30% increase in publications in elite research journals.
– Impressive job placement rates: 98% for undergraduate students, 98% for MBA graduates, and a perfect 100% for Master of Accountancy graduates within six months of graduation (2022-23).
– Over $7.7 million raised in private donations to support initiatives.
– The launch of new certificate programs and MBA concentrations, along with innovative courses.
– Contributions to local economic and workforce development, including re-designation by the NSA as a National Center for Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity.
Dr. Martin emphasized that maintaining AACSB accreditation reflects a commitment to quality and improvement. He looks forward to continuing these efforts over the next six years and beyond.
In recent years, universities face increased scrutiny regarding the value of their programs. According to a recent survey by the National Center for Education Statistics, many students prioritize job placement and program reputation. Louisiana Tech’s strong performance in these areas speaks well to its reputation, making its accreditation even more valuable in today’s job market.
This achievement comes amid a trend where students increasingly demand transparency and data on program outcomes. Louisiana Tech, through its accomplishments, is setting a standard for others in the education sector.
