The new season of Love Island USA launched with a mention of celebrity couple Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. Narrator Iain Stirling referenced both Swift and Kelce, along with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, in his opening remarks.
The eighth season features a new group of singles looking for love, with Ariana Madix returning as host. In the opening sequence, Stirling welcomed viewers and noted the time that has passed since the show’s inception.
“Welcome to Love Island USA season eight. Eight years, can you believe it?” he said. “When we started, Taylor hadn’t met Travis, Harry and Meghan were still royals, and I was only 18. Don’t Google that,” he joked.
Swift and Kelce, who are reportedly preparing for marriage, have been in the spotlight regarding details of their upcoming wedding. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have also maintained popularity throughout the years.
This season, Love Island features 11 contestants after the removal of Vasana Montgomery due to the emergence of videos in which she used racial slurs.
The contestants this season include Aniya Harvey, Beatriz Hatz, Bryce Alakai Dettloff, Gabriel Vasconcelos, KC Chandler, Mackenzie “Kenzie” Annis, Melanie Moreno, Sean Reifel, Sincere Rhea, Trinity Tatum, and Zach Georgiou.
New episodes of Love Island USA air Thursdays at 9 PM on Peacock.
