Luke Littler won his first match since securing the PDC World Darts Championship. On Thursday, he faced Lourence Ilagan in the opening round of the Bahrain Masters and came out on top.
At just 17 years old, Littler didn’t play his best, but his scoring was strong enough to keep Ilagan at bay. The Filipino player had trouble finishing opportunities, which made it tough for him to capitalize.
Initially, Littler took a 4-1 lead but then allowed Ilagan to win two legs. However, he quickly regained control and finished the match in style with a score of 142 and an impressive 11-dart leg.
Earlier that night, Stephen Bunting also marked his return following his defeat in the PDC World Championship final to Littler. Bunting dominated his match, taking a 3-0 lead and maintaining a high average score, ultimately defeating India’s Nitin Kumar 6-2.
World No. 1 Luke Humphries had a solid performance against Abdulla Saeed as he looked to bounce back from his surprising loss to Peter Wright at the December championship. Meanwhile, Gerwyn Price and Chris Dobey advanced as well.
In a surprising twist, former PDC world champion Rob Cross was eliminated by Paulo Nebrida, ranked No. 225 in the world. The match results show the unpredictable nature of darts competitions, where anything can happen.
