LYNCHBURG, Va. — The University of Lynchburg volleyball team is on a roll, celebrating their fourth straight win by sweeping Eastern Mennonite on Wednesday night in Turner Gymnasium.
The Hornets are now 23-2 overall and 9-1 in the ODAC, with an impressive eight-game winning streak. During this stretch, they won six matches in straight sets and only lost two sets. In the latest match, Lynchburg dominated, holding Eastern Mennonite to just a .045 hitting percentage while hitting .391 themselves.
Leading the charge was Kate Hardie, who scored 12 kills and added two service aces. Sophomore Leah DiNardo also made a significant impact with nine kills and a block and a half, showcasing the team’s ability to spread the offense effectively.
On defense, Kailey Keough stood out with the most digs, recording nine. Tori Williamson and Cassi Blackmore also contributed, each with eight digs, playing a crucial role in limiting the Royals’ opportunities.
Set by set, Lynchburg set the tone. In the first set, they racked up 16 kills with a .400 hitting percentage. Eastern Mennonite struggled significantly, even hitting below zero for parts of the match. The Hornets matched their first-set performance in the second, raising their efficiency to an impressive .469. In the final set, they finished strong with 12 kills and a .300 average, maintaining control throughout.
Lynchburg’s next challenge comes on Saturday, November 1. They’ll face Mary Washington in Salisbury, Md., at 3 p.m., followed by a match against the host Salisbury at 5 p.m.
