Legoland Florida is set to lay off 234 employees, mainly from its entertainment team. This news comes from an announcement released by Merlin Entertainments on January 28. The layoffs will occur between March 25 and April 7.
The majority of those losing their jobs are entertainers and support staff who contribute to the park’s lively atmosphere. Positions affected include performers, stage managers, technicians, and more. These layoffs will be permanent.
Interestingly, none of the laid-off employees are union members, and Merlin hasn’t provided a specific reason for these job cuts. However, a representative from Legoland stated that the changes aim to improve the guest experience starting in 2025. They emphasized the need for flexibility and responsiveness in a competitive market.
Legoland Florida Resort is located about 45 minutes from both Orlando and Tampa. It boasts a theme park, a water park, a Peppa Pig theme park, and three themed hotels. The sprawling 150-acre resort features over 60 rides, live shows, and attractions that cater to families and children.
Last year, the park welcomed a new president, Franceen Gonzales, who has a rich background in the entertainment industry. These leadership changes and operational shifts indicate Legoland’s focus on adapting to future demands and enhancing visitor experiences.
