Man Arrested After GOP Rep. Max Miller Claims He Was ‘Run Off the Road’ by Flag-Waving Protester

CLEVELAND — Rep. Max Miller, a Republican from Ohio, recently experienced a frightening incident while driving. He claims a man, who waved a Palestinian flag, cut him off on the road and made threats against him and his young daughter.

This event highlights rising concerns about political violence in the U.S. The U.S. Capitol Police and local authorities in Rocky River, Ohio, are investigating. The suspect, Feras S. Hamdan, turned himself in after a warrant was issued.

Miller described the encounter in a 911 call, saying, “I was cut off by a man in a Tesla who held up a Palestinian flag and rolled down his window to threaten me. He said, ‘I’m going to cut your throat and your daughter’s.’” He reported that the man hurled anti-Semitic insults and claimed to know where he lived.

While following Hamdan, Miller remained calm despite feeling shaken. He informed the dispatcher that he was armed but chose not to draw his weapon. This decision echoes advice from experts, like former law enforcement officials, who stress the importance of de-escalation in such situations.

During the investigation, police attempted to locate the flag that reportedly came from Hamdan’s vehicle but found nothing. Rocky River Police operations manager, Julie Morron, noted that the search was ongoing.

Miller expressed relief that his daughter wasn’t with him at the time, sharing his experience on social media to emphasize the incident’s unsettling nature. “I’m not going to let this stop me from my work,” he stated.

This incident comes shortly after two Democratic lawmakers were attacked in Minnesota, underlining the increasing threats faced by elected officials. The rising political tensions prompted House Speaker Mike Johnson to call for a reduction in heated rhetoric.
