Trump has labeled Greene as a “traitor” and a “lunatic” since she broke away from Republican leaders. Her demands for the release of files on convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and her criticism of Republican strategies have strained their relationship. She’s also pointed out that the GOP lacks a plan regarding the Affordable Care Act’s expiring tax credits and criticized Trump’s tariffs, which she claims hurt U.S. businesses.
Last month, Trump withdrew his support for Greene, even hinting at backing a primary challenger against her. Greene later announced her resignation from Congress due to this fallout. Since then, Trump has continued to insult her, recently calling her a “dumb person.”
Greene believes these remarks could alienate female voters. Recent studies show that many Americans are struggling with rising costs of living. According to a poll by the Pew Research Center, 59% of Americans feel the economy is in poor shape. Even if Trump gives himself an “A+++++” for his economic management, many everyday citizens don’t feel that at all.
“The president needs to recognize his position as billionaire and leader of the United States,” Greene noted. “He can’t dismiss people’s concerns about their financial struggles. It’s disrespectful.”
