Maroon and Gold Shine on Day One of Badger Invitational: Highlights from University of Minnesota Athletics

MADISON, Wis. – The Golden Gophers men’s golf team kicked off the Badger Invitational, but bad weather interrupted the second round. They’ll wrap it up tomorrow.

Currently, the Gophers are in 12th place at 12-over-par. They finished the first round 8-over-par and are 4-over-par in the second round so far. Freshman Joe Honsa has made notable progress, completing the front nine.

Standout Performers:

Sophomore Jack Crousore is leading the charge, sitting at even par through the seventh hole of the second round. He’s been impressive with three birdies under his belt and is currently 1-under-par.

Honsa has played well too, sitting at 1-over-par after 27 holes. A highlight for him was scoring his first collegiate eagle on the 11th hole. He finished the first round at even par, also with two birdies.

Chun-Ta Wu, another sophomore, is at 3-over-par today, making five birdies, which included four in the first round.

Senior Jack Wetzel performed solidly as well, shooting 1-over-par overall, but is currently at 2-under-par in the second round with three birdies.
