“Marshals,” the new CBS series in the “Yellowstone” universe, is already a hit. Just 12 days after its premiere on March 1, CBS renewed it for a second season due to incredible viewership.
The show’s debut attracted 20.6 million viewers across platforms, including CBS and Paramount+. This made it the most-watched broadcast series premiere without an NFL lead-in since 2017. According to CBS, it even topped the streaming charts on Paramount+, becoming the most-streamed CBS episode ever. It was also the number one show for that week, outperforming other midseason premieres.
CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach praised “Marshals” for its strong performance. She noted that the success reflects the appeal of the “Yellowstone” universe and the engaging storytelling from the creative team. The lead actor, Luke Grimes, plays Kayce Dutton, who joins a U.S. Marshals unit, combining his cowboy skills with his Navy SEAL background to enact justice in Montana.
In addition to Grimes, the cast includes Logan Marshall-Green, Arielle Kebbel, and Gil Birmingham. The series is produced by Paramount TV Studios and 101 Studios. The creative team, which includes Taylor Sheridan, has built a strong reputation for compelling narratives in the “Yellowstone” franchise.
