Martin Short Caught Covid During ‘SNL50’ – Steve Martin Shares Shocking Revelation: ‘The Curse Is Real!’

While the SNL50 anniversary show was a big success for NBC and Peacock, it has also brought some unexpected challenges. Recently, Steve Martin announced that both his comedy partner, Martin Short, and fellow SNL alum Maya Rudolph tested positive for Covid-19.

In his Instagram post, Martin humorously noted the situation: “Maya had Covid. Marty has Covid. I wonder why? The SNL 50th Covid curse is real.” He accompanied this message with a photo of Short and Rudolph sharing a kiss at the special taping.

Due to the infections, Martin and Short had to reschedule their tour dates in Durham and Knoxville. “We’re sorry for the inconvenience. I think we’ll be even funnier when we’re back,” Martin joked, hoping to lift spirits.

Martin is a regular host on SNL, while Short had a brief stint on the show in the mid-’80s. They both entertained a massive audience during the SNL50: The Anniversary Special, which drew in about 14.8 million viewers. It was a night filled with nostalgia, and one of the highlights was Rudolph’s return. She was part of the show from 1999 to 2007 and reunited with Amy Poehler for their classic ‘Bronx Beat’ sketch, much to the delight of fans.

As everyone focuses on recovering and rescheduling, it’s evident that the legacy of SNL continues to bring joy, even amid challenges.
