Marvel recently revealed posters for its upcoming film, and one in particular caught a lot of attention.
The movie, titled “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” centers around Marvel’s first family. It features a talented cast: Pedro Pascal plays Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby takes on the role of Sue Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach portrays Ben Grimm, and Joseph Quinn plays Johnny Storm.
Some fans raised eyebrows at one of the posters, suggesting it seemed like it might have been created using artificial intelligence.
However, a Marvel representative has stated that they did not use AI in any part of the poster’s creation. CNN has reached out to Marvel for more details.
This concern over AI in film isn’t new. Just last month, editor Dávid Jancsó, who worked on the Oscar-nominated film “The Brutalist,” admitted to using AI for the dialogue of actors Adrien Brody and Felicity Jones.
Jancsó, who speaks Hungarian fluently, used AI software to match his voice with the actors’ lines to ensure proper pronunciation.
He explained, “Most of their Hungarian dialogue includes my voice. We wanted to make sure the performances stayed true, so we carefully replaced some sounds. The dialogue was so extensive that using this technology helped us finish the editing faster.”
In response to the backlash about the AI usage, director Brady Corbet emphasized that both Adrien and Felicity’s performances were completely their own. He noted they spent considerable time with a dialect coach, Tanera Marshall, to hone their accents.
Corbet clarified that the AI was only used to improve specific vowels and letters in the Hungarian dialogue, ensuring clarity without changing any English lines. He reiterated that the goal was to honor the actors’ original performances while ensuring authenticity in another language.
“The Fantastic Four: First Steps” is expected to hit theaters on July 25, 2025.
