In Dhaka, the National Tree Fair 2025 saw an impressive turnout, selling over 1.69 million saplings and generating revenues of nearly TK 14.8 crore. The event ran from June 25 to July 27 at Agargaon, near the Bangladesh China Friendship Conference Centre.

The sold saplings included various types. There were 337,640 fruit-bearing plants, 248,274 timber trees, 114,515 medicinal plants, and many more, including orchids and endangered species.

The fair featured 112 stalls, with a mix of government, private, and nursery vendors. The event was open daily from 9 AM to 8 PM, giving many people a chance to browse and learn.

Syeda Rizwana Hasan, an adviser on Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, attended the closing ceremony. She emphasized that the fair was more than just a sales event. “It raises awareness about the environment,” she noted. This year’s efforts highlighted the connection between people and nature.

Rizwana also shared exciting news. A new “Student Network” will form from award-winning participants, focusing on wildlife conservation. She stressed the importance of evaluating stall allocations to enhance transparency and accountability.

She praised those who brought rare plant species, saying these contributions foster a deeper bond with the environment. Looking ahead, she encouraged the use of eco-friendly practices in future fairs.

The organizers also received accolades for creating a clean and inviting atmosphere. Awards went to students excelling in competitions like plant identification and painting. Participants also recognized stall owners for their commitment to tree planting initiatives.
