MasterChef Star Opens Up About Hidden Challenges During Filming: ‘It Was Tough’

Rhiannon Anderson, a beloved contestant from this season’s MasterChef, recently opened up about her hidden struggles during filming. Despite appearing joyful, Rhiannon faced serious health challenges after undergoing emergency surgery in 2024. She revealed on social media that she had a hysterectomy and had a large fibroid removed, which, fortunately, turned out to be benign. "If I hadn’t had the surgery, it could have turned cancerous," she shared.

In a chat with Yahoo Lifestyle after her unexpected elimination, Rhiannon admitted that she hadn’t fully recovered when filming began. "Managing my health was tough. I was still sore and swollen," she said. This season, she wasn’t alone in facing health issues; fellow contestant Pete Campbell had to withdraw after being diagnosed with cancer shortly after starting.

Rhiannon explained that coming back to the MasterChef kitchen felt surprisingly comfortable. The familiar setting helped her relive joyful moments from her past experience on the show. Even though she didn’t win this time, she expressed pride in her journey and hopes for her friends still competing.

Looking ahead, Rhiannon plans to travel around Australia with her family and start a YouTube channel called “Rhiplenish on the Road.” They aim to showcase culinary experiences, meet local farmers, and explore the beautiful landscapes the country offers.

Rhiannon also dreams of writing a cookbook dedicated to her late mother, fulfilling a promise she made to herself. “After finding a cookbook my mum owned, I feel inspired to share our family recipes,” she said.

These personal stories highlight the resilience and passion Rhiannon possesses, both in her culinary career and in her life. As she embarks on new adventures, her journey reminds us all of the importance of health and pursuing dreams.
