Former Congressman Matt Gaetz recently commented on Alan Ritchson’s remarks about him in an interview. Gaetz claimed that Ritchson, his former schoolmate, was just seeking attention from Hollywood when he called Gaetz a “motherf–ker.” According to Gaetz, they were friends during their school years.
In a tweet, Gaetz stated, “Hollywood apparently changes people.” He was responding to Ritchson’s comments from a GQ interview in which the actor criticized him. Gaetz insisted that their past was nothing like Ritchson suggested, noting, “We were not ‘adversaries.’ I won debate championships while Alan pursued acting. He was always nice to me.”
Gaetz even added a bit of humor, saying, “Spoiler alert: We were not adversaries… He’s just trying to get Hollywood attention.”
Ritchson, known for his role in the Prime Video series “Reacher,” shared his thoughts on Gaetz in the same interview. He described Gaetz as “not a good dude” and expressed his shock that people in Florida continue to support him despite various controversies.
The actor also mentioned a potential interest in politics but commented, “I’m not duplicitous enough to succeed in politics.”
In December, the House Ethics Committee found that Gaetz had violated conduct rules, which he denied. This adds another layer to the ongoing discussion around his reputation.
