In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Gaetz shared, “We were not adversaries. He’s just trying to get Hollywood attention (but not just with the steroids).” He also reminisced about a time when Ritchson’s mother wouldn’t let him read a controversial report in their high school computer lab.
Ritchson’s comments came during an interview with GQ, where he expressed shock that Florida continues to support Gaetz given his history. According to Ritchson, “That motherf***er… he’s just not a good dude!”
Gaetz responded again on X, pointing out their shared history. He noted that they were both on the Speech and Debate Team, but his debate success overshadowed Ritchson’s acting pursuits. He added a personal touch, recalling a karaoke night at Ritchson’s father’s retirement party, where they both sang classic hits.
Ritchson also mentioned considering a future in politics, stating he wouldn’t want to stoop to being “duplicitous enough to succeed.” This exchange highlights the complex dynamics between the two men, drawing upon their shared past and contrasting ambitions.
