Matt Rhule Highlights Two Wolverines Who Made a Game-Changing Impact on Saturday

The Michigan Wolverines celebrated a narrow 30-27 victory over the Nebraska Cornhuskers, kicking off their Big Ten season with a 1-0 record and improving to 3-1 overall. The game was filled with thrilling moments, including several explosive plays and a remarkable seven sacks against Nebraska’s quarterback, Dylan Raiola.

After the game, Nebraska’s coach, Matt Rhule, highlighted the strong performance of Michigan’s defense, particularly praising Jaishawn Barham. He described Barham as a “dominant” player who was key to Michigan’s success.

Rhule noted the pressure on his quarterback throughout the match. “There was too much pressure on the quarterback, too many sacks,” he said. “He was dominant last week against Central Michigan and really made an impact in this game.”

Barham played an impressive game, racking up four tackles, two for loss, and one sack. He tied for the team lead with six quarterback pressures, according to Pro Football Focus.

This season, Haynes has surpassed last year’s rushing stats, amassing 537 yards already—well above his total of 448 from last year at Alabama. With six touchdowns, he’s close to matching his previous season total. He currently leads the Big Ten in rushing and is on track for a standout year after previously being a backup.

The Wolverines now have a bye week to rest before taking on the Wisconsin Badgers on October 4. Nebraska will also have a break before facing Michigan State in their next matchup.
