Mayor Bass plans to file a Freedom of Information Act request with the federal government. Under this new directive, all city departments must adhere to Los Angeles’ “sanctuary city ordinance.” This means they cannot use city resources for federal immigration enforcement. On the same day, hundreds of immigrant rights supporters held a rally at Olvera Street, announcing plans for a citywide demonstration on August 12.
