Mayuresh Bharat Waghmare from Solapur achieved a remarkable milestone by securing All India Rank 8 in the recent Indian Economic Services (IES) Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). He stands out as the only candidate from Maharashtra among the 12 recommended for this prestigious position.
The IES exam took place between June 20 and 22, 2025, with results announced on September 30, 2025. These results followed a rigorous selection process, including interviews aimed at assessing candidates’ personality and capabilities.
Mayuresh comes from a family dedicated to serving the community. His father, Bharat Waghmare, is an Additional District Collector in Raigad, and his grandfather also held a government position as a Deputy District Collector. This lineage instilled in him a strong sense of purpose.
His educational journey began at Suyash Vidyalaya, followed by Sangameshwar College for his higher secondary education. He then pursued his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Agriculture and Advanced Economics in England. This international experience, paired with his drive to serve, cemented his decision to join the administrative services upon returning to India.
The competition was fierce, with about 430,000 candidates vying for just 12 vacancies in the IES. This context makes Mayuresh’s achievement all the more impressive, showcasing not just individual talent but the potential of students from Maharashtra to excel in competitive exams.
Local leaders, including Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, celebrated Mayuresh’s success. On social media, Pawar remarked, “Mayuresh has brought pride to Maharashtra with his rank.
