Meet Carson Towt: The New Colts TE and Former Notre Dame Star You Need to Know!

The Indianapolis Colts made a surprising move by signing Carson Towt, an undrafted free agent tight end. Interestingly, Towt has a background in basketball and most recently played for Notre Dame.

In their announcement, the Colts highlighted that Towt didn’t have any experience in football during high school or college. This choice mirrors the team’s previous success with Mo Alie-Cox, who transitioned from basketball at VCU to the NFL. Alie-Cox has become a key player, recently re-signing with the Colts.

During his college years, Towt began at Northern Arizona. He excelled there, leading Division I in rebounds with an impressive average of 12.4 per game and setting a Big Sky Conference record with 423 total rebounds. At Notre Dame, he continued to shine, starting in all 31 games while averaging 5.9 points and 9.0 rebounds.

The Colts have a promising tight end in Tyler Warren, who was picked 14th in the 2025 draft. Warren proved to be a standout, reaching the Pro Bowl in his rookie season. He was a crucial part of the offense, leading the team with 112 targets and 76 catches for 817 yards and four touchdowns.

With veteran quarterback Daniel Jones still on the roster, Towt’s signing adds another dynamic to the Colts’ passing game. As the team aims for a playoff berth in 2026, the mix of established talent and new prospects will be vital for their success.

Towt’s journey illustrates how unexpected paths can lead to opportunity, especially in sports. As more teams explore unconventional talent, it will be fascinating to see how players like Towt adapt and thrive in the NFL.
