American Idol is shaking things up in its music division. 19 Entertainment, the company behind the show, has appointed Joey Arbagey as the new executive vice president of music.
Arbagey, who previously worked at Epic Records, will take charge of 19’s music efforts, focusing on artists who began their journeys on Idol. He will report to Eli Holzman and Rachel Dax, who lead music and production for Sony Pictures Television Nonfiction.
Holzman and Dax expressed their enthusiasm about Argagey’s appointment, stating, “We’re glad to welcome Joey as we adapt our music division to meet the needs of today’s artists. His experience on both the business and creative sides of the industry will be crucial as we continue to build on our musical legacy.”
During his ten years at Epic Records, Arbagey was the executive vp of A&R. He collaborated with big names like Camila Cabello, Mariah Carey, and John K, and he previously led A&R at Antonio “LA” Reid’s label.
In his new role, Arbagey will oversee several areas, including 19 Recordings, 19 Publishing, and 19 Management, plus work with partners like BMG on distribution.
Arbagey expressed his excitement, saying, “I’m thrilled to join Eli, Aaron, Rachel, and the entire 19 Entertainment team. They’ve established an impressive music division, and I can’t wait to help take it to new heights.”
