Meet Oliver Peterson: Science Hill’s Standout Player of the Week!

In a thrilling game, Oliver Peterson stepped up big for Science Hill, leading his team to an unforgettable victory over their fierce rival, Dobyns-Bennett.

With the score tied at 54 and just over a minute on the clock, Peterson drained a crucial three-pointer, securing the lead. His head coach, Jon Higgins, expressed confidence in his player. “It’s a shot we expect him to make,” Higgins said. “He wants to take it, so we wanted him to make it. I’m really happy he was able to knock it down for us.”

Peterson felt a mix of excitement and gratitude after clinching the win. “It felt amazing,” he shared. “Coach had a great play drawn up, and our assistant coach gave me all the confidence I needed. Logan set a great screen. After that, it was just like ‘barbeque chicken’.” The phrase captures how confident he felt in his shot.

This moment was special for Peterson. It wasn’t just about the win, but about representing his team and hometown. “It means the world to me,” he said. “I grew up coming to every game. I wouldn’t want to play with any other guys.” Now in his fourth and final year as a Hilltopper, he delivered one of the biggest shots of his career.

Coach Higgins praised Peterson for his hard work and dedication. “He’s a great kid that works really hard and he’s a four-year player,” he noted. “There aren’t many of those guys around. His experience, work ethic, and leadership are so important to our team. When Oliver plays well, we all play well.”
