Meet Our New ICU Physician: Enhancing Care at Stormont Vail Health

Topeka, Kan. – Stormont Vail Health is excited to announce Dr. Christy Bullard is joining their team. Dr. Bullard is a board-certified expert in Emergency Medicine and Critical Care.

As a nocturnist intensivist, she’ll manage the care of critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit at Stormont Vail Hospital. This unit is located at 1500 S.W. 10th Ave., Topeka.

Dr. Bullard’s passion for medicine began in middle school during science class. Although she initially studied business and served in the Navy Reserve, her desire to work in healthcare never faded. She went on to earn a Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) and an MBA from Oklahoma State University.

“I want patients and their families to feel cared for, heard, and understood,” Dr. Bullard shared. “It’s important we make healthcare decisions together.”

Her journey led her to complete her Emergency Medicine Residency at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Oklahoma. Afterward, she joined the Oklahoma Army National Guard and finished a Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at St. Luke’s University Health Network in Pennsylvania.

Dr. Bullard is looking forward to working with her team and figuring out how to best support the needs of the department. In a recent survey, 90% of patients highlighted the importance of clear communication from their healthcare providers. Dr. Bullard’s approach aligns with this emphasis on patient connection, showing that the future of medicine is not just about treatments, but about understanding and teamwork.
