FORT PIERCE, Fla. — A fifth grader from the Treasure Coast is making waves in the world of science. Denzil Irving III, or Professor D3 as he likes to be called, recently appeared on a national talk show and is gaining attention for his enthusiasm.
“They’re really noticing me now because I was on ‘The Jennifer Hudson Show,’” Denzil said, sharing how his schoolmates are reacting to his new fame.
Denzil’s love for science started early. He recalls spending time exploring science books and doing experiments with his mom. “All that knowledge inspired me to dig deeper,” he said.
With a desire to share what he learns, Denzil took to social media. He chose the name Professor D3 to help spread his love for science. “I want others to learn about science too,” he explained.
He’s not just popular online, with over 12,000 Instagram followers; he’s also a role model in his own school, Dalton Learning Academy. Administrator Dorlette Pierre-Louis commented, “He inspires his classmates to shine bright.” Having someone like Denzil makes them believe they can achieve great things too.
While Denzil has a passion for all things S.T.E.M., he acknowledges he’s still working on his math skills. “It’s not the hardest, but I’m stumbling a little bit,” he admitted.
Despite his young age, he’s embracing his celebrity status. “People are calling me a celebrity now,” he said with a smile. Looking ahead, Denzil plans to grow his YouTube channel with his mom, creating longer videos to inspire even more young scientists.
