Ranchi: Union Minister of State for Defence and Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth will lead an Indian group at the 17th Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA 2025) in Malaysia from May 20 to 24.
An Indian pavilion will feature at LIMA 2025, with its inauguration by Seth. Key players from the Indian defence sector, including government-owned companies like Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, as well as private firms, will showcase their latest innovations. This year, Indian assets such as Dornier aircraft and a naval ship will also be present.
Seth is expected to meet Malaysia’s defence minister, Dato Seri Mohammad Khalid bin Nordin, during the exhibition. This meeting aims to strengthen the defence ties and strategic partnership between India and Malaysia. The two countries share a diverse relationship that encompasses various strategic areas, including security, reflecting the vision of cooperation established during the Malaysian Prime Minister’s visit to India in 2024.
LIMA has been held every two years since it began in 1991, becoming one of the largest maritime and aerospace exhibitions in Asia and the Pacific. It’s an important platform for countries to display their technological advancements and foster international collaborations.
With over 300 exhibitors from around the world, LIMA 2025 is not just about showcasing military might; it’s also about innovation. Recent surveys indicate that technological advancements in defence are increasingly crucial to global security, a trend that LIMA highlights. In 2021, the global military drone market was valued at $10.3 billion, and it continues to grow. This puts India’s participation in LIMA in a pivotal spot for future collaborations and technological exchanges.
As we approach the exhibition, social media buzz is already building. Many users are discussing the potential impact of such events on regional safety and the global defence landscape. These discussions not only reflect current anxieties but also showcase the importance of dialogue and partnership in addressing shared security challenges.
