At Quantaco, we aim to cut carbon emissions. The great thing is, reducing emissions can also lower operating costs. So, even if the future isn’t on your mind, you can still save money by being eco-friendly.

Memorable moments from 2024

This year was special for us. We received a major grant from Innovate UK, which helped us enhance our decarbonisation software significantly.

Plans for 2025

Looking ahead, we want to expand our customer base. But it’s important to note that we don’t have all the answers at Quantaco. Many innovative UK companies are creating fantastic green tech products. Our goal is to promote these solutions so more people can find and implement the right options to reduce their carbon footprint. We’re all about quick action, not delays. Let’s get started!

The Weald Action Group

In June 2024, the Supreme Court decided that the climate impact of fossil fuel projects must be considered by authorities. This ruling will make it tougher for new fossil fuel projects to receive approvals. The Weald Action Group, consisting of dedicated grassroots campaigners, played a big role in achieving this. Friends of the Earth praised their hard work over the past five years.

Project Giving Back

Each year, charities display stunning gardens at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. Many of these gardens rely on grants from Project Giving Back (PGB). Since 2022, they’ve funded 42 gardens, donating millions. Alex Geaney from Horatio’s Garden, which supports spinal injury patients, acknowledged the team’s efforts: “Every single one of the team deserves to be celebrated for all that they do to champion causes great and small.”

Team Love

Climate activists remind us that there’s “no music on a dead planet.” Team Love, an events production company in Bristol, is dedicated to this cause. They helped organize Massive Attack’s first sustainable festival, which was powered 100% by renewable energy. It set a record as the lowest carbon emissions show of its kind. Team Love also assists young people from less privileged backgrounds in breaking into the events industry.

Lorna Montgomery, Share and Repair

When her kettle broke in 2017, Lorna Montgomery didn’t want to throw it away. Instead, she started Share and Repair in Bath. This initiative includes a library of tools and ten repair cafes, helping locals fix their possessions. Every year, the UK discards around 70 million homeware items. Share and Repair is tackling this waste, one item at a time.

Matt Staniek, Save Windermere

Frustrated by pollution in England’s largest lake, Matt Staniek launched the Save Windermere campaign in 2021. Since October 2023, he has staged weekly protests outside United Utilities, which manages the lake’s water quality. In response, the company promised a record £190 million investment in Windermere. Staniek believes that hope is vital in campaigning, stating, “My glass is definitely still half full!”

Mary Long-Dhonau

Infamously known as ‘Flood Mary,’ Mary Long-Dhonau became an advocate after her home in Worcester was flooded with sewage in 2000. For over two decades, she has aided thousands of flood victims, raising awareness and providing resources. Her website offers a wealth of information for those affected by flooding.

Blean Bison Project

In Canterbury, a herd of wild bison is helping restore the landscape. Introduced in 2022 by the Kent Wildlife Trust and the Wildwood Trust, this herd has expanded from three to eight. They are clearing overgrown areas, allowing flowers and butterflies to thrive, contributing to the UK’s biodiversity goals.

Dr. Nicola Bradbear, Bees For Development

The charity Bees for Development, founded by Dr. Nicola Bradbear, teaches beekeeping in impoverished communities worldwide. This empowers people to achieve sustainable incomes while protecting habitats and enhancing biodiversity. TV presenter Kate Humble praised their work, highlighting its multiple benefits.
