Exciting Launch for Blue Origin’s NS-31 Mission
This spring, Blue Origin is set to launch its NS-31 mission featuring a remarkable all-female crew. The team includes Aisha Bowe, Amanda Nguyen, Gayle King, Katy Perry, Kerianne Flynn, and Lauren Sánchez. Each member of the crew brings unique experiences and passions to this exciting adventure.
Meet the Crew
Aisha Bowe
Aisha is a former NASA rocket scientist and an entrepreneur. She leads STEMBoard, a company dedicated to engineering solutions, and founded LINGO, which aims to teach tech skills to students. Aisha hopes her journey will inspire young people, especially from her Bahamian roots, to follow their dreams.
Amanda Nguyen
Amanda is a bioastronautics research scientist with a rich academic background, including research at Harvard and NASA. She has worked on major missions and is a strong advocate for survivors of sexual violence. Amanda’s role as an astronaut highlights the importance of science and peace between nations.
Gayle King
As a well-known journalist and co-host of CBS Mornings, Gayle has a talent for deep, meaningful conversations. She is thrilled to join Blue Origin’s mission, embracing the chance to explore space as part of the first all-female flight team.
Katy Perry
Katy is a pop superstar and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. With millions of streams and numerous awards, she also champions causes related to children’s rights and education. Katy sees this flight as a way to inspire her daughter and others to dream big.
Kerianne Flynn
Kerianne has transitioned from a successful fashion career to community building through various nonprofit efforts. A storyteller at heart, she creates films that inspire and provoke thought. Kerianne hopes her flight will empower her son and encourage future generations to explore their potential.
Lauren Sánchez
Lauren is an Emmy-winning journalist, author, and an experienced pilot. She founded Black Ops Aviation, the first female-owned aerial film company. Lauren aims to motivate young explorers through her work and her recent children’s book, The Fly Who Flew to Space.
This NS-31 mission will be historic, marking Blue Origin’s 11th human flight and its first with an all-female crew since Valentina Tereshkova’s flight in 1963. To date, the New Shepard program has taken 52 people beyond the Kármán line, the recognized boundary of space.
