SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The NHL and IIHF have unveiled the rosters for the 2026 Winter Olympic Games. Selected by various National Hockey Associations, a number of Minnesota Wild players will represent their countries. Matt Boldy, Jonas Brodin, Joel Eriksson Ek, Brock Faber, Filip Gustavsson, Quinn Hughes, Nico Sturm, and Jesper Wallstedt are among those chosen.
Matt Boldy, just 24, has been making waves this season with 47 points in 41 games. His stats include six power-play goals, three game-winners, and a notable plus-16 rating. Boldy has consistently ranked high among American players, leading in goals and points. His experience shines through as he has competed in international events like the IIHF World Championships.
Jonas Brodin, a 32-year-old defenseman, has also impressed. With 12 points in 36 games and a strong defensive game, he ranks high in blocked shots among Swedish players. Brodin has spent his entire NHL career with Minnesota, becoming a vital part of the team’s defense over 14 seasons.
Joel Eriksson Ek stands out at 28, boasting 29 points this season and impressive face-off stats. He’s been a constant for the Wild since 2016 and has represented Sweden in several competitions, scoring two points in the recent 2025 4 Nations Face-Off.
Brock Faber, only 23, has made a name for himself this season with 21 points and is recognized for his strong defensive play. His experience in the 2022 Olympics lays a solid foundation for his role in the upcoming games.
Goaltender Filip Gustavsson, 27, enjoys a solid season with a record of 13-8-4 and three shutouts. He’s among the top goaltenders in the NHL, showing remarkable skill since joining Minnesota. His performances at international tournaments further showcase his talent.
Quinn Hughes, 26, has accumulated 30 points this season. Averaging an impressive 27:26 minutes of ice time per game, he leads NHL defensemen in assists. Hughes has a rich history of representing the U.S. in international play.
Nico Sturm, at 30, is back after recovering from an injury. Though he started late this season, his experience is invaluable, highlighted by his contribution to Germany’s silver medal at the 2023 World Championship.
Lastly, Jesper Wallstedt, the young goaltender, has been phenomenal with a record of 11-2-3. His standout performances, including a remarkable shutout streak, have put him on the fast track to becoming a star in the league.
The men’s hockey tournament will kick off on February 11 in Milano Cortina. This will be the first Olympics featuring NHL players since 2014. A total of 12 teams will compete, with all proceeding to a single-elimination playoff, culminating in the gold medal game on February 22.
