Milestone for Bryant Bulldogs in MLS SuperDraft
In a historic moment for Bryant University, three standout players—Abdel Talabi, Mamadi Jiana, and Jaime Amaro—were selected in the 2026 MLS SuperDraft. This marks the first time any Bulldogs have been drafted, highlighting a significant achievement for the program.
Player Highlights
Abdel Talabi started his journey with Bryant in 2021, coming from Brewster, Massachusetts. He quickly made a name for himself as a crucial part of the defense, leading the nation in shutout percentage and goals allowed in 2023. His efforts earned him All-America East Second Team honors and the America East Defensive Player of the Week title, contributing to the team’s championship victory.
In 2024, Talabi continued to impress, playing all 19 games and helping the Bulldogs maintain a strong defensive record. By 2025, he was the captain, leading a defense that allowed only eight goals throughout the regular season. His contributions included three goals and two assists, along with First Team All-ECAC and All-America East honors.
Mamadi Jiana, who transferred from UAlbany in 2025, showcased his skills as one of the top forwards in the conference. Jiana started 20 of the 21 games, demonstrating impressive speed and strategy. He led the America East with 30 shot attempts and recorded the second-most shots on goal (25). With seven goals and 18 points, he ranked among the top scorers in the league.
Jaime Amaro, a sophomore from Madrid, Spain, joined Bryant in 2025 and quickly made an impact. Amaro was named Third Team All-American and earned the prestigious America East Striker of the Year title. He finished the regular season as the league leader in goals (10), assists (7), and points (27). His performance included an impressive eight-game streak where he scored consistently, including key goals against UMass Lowell and UMBC.
