Meet the Inspiring 90-Year-Old Dunwoody Volunteer Championing Environmental Literacy for Over 25 Years!

In Dunwoody, Georgia, a remarkable 90-year-old is making a big impact on the environment. Donna Burt has dedicated her life to sharing her love for nature with younger generations.

“Volunteering is the rent I pay for being on this planet,” Burt believes. This mantra has led her to the Dunwoody Nature Center, where she has helped for 25 years. The center is all about promoting our connection to nature and teaching everyone how to care for it.

At 90, Burt is vibrant and full of energy. “I don’t feel like I’m 90. Sometimes, I feel like I’m still in my 30s or 40s—until my body reminds me,” she says with a smile. Her passion for the outdoors inspires those around her, including Madhav Dave, a fellow member of the Nature Center, who admires her spirit.

The Dunwoody Nature Center engages visitors of all ages, nurturing a love and respect for the environment. They believe that everyone has a role in protecting our natural world. “It’s really up to us to be good stewards of the planet,” Dave emphasizes.

Age is just a number when it comes to caring for the environment. Burt’s enthusiasm proves that staying young at heart can keep you active and involved. “I’ve never felt old. I played competitive tennis until my eighties,” she says proudly.
