Exciting news for synchronized skating! Teams Elite and Skyliners junior have been chosen to represent Team USA at the ISU World Junior Synchronized Skating Championships. This event will take place on March 7-8 in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Both teams are strong competitors and have previously earned medals at the World Junior Championships. In 2022, they made history by winning silver and bronze, marking the first time Team USA secured two medals at a World Championships in synchronized skating.
Teams Elite comes into this championship after a fantastic season, winning gold at both their Challenger Series events. They were the only junior team to score over 200 points in these competitions.
As the reigning U.S. champions, Teams Elite head to Sweden as favorites. They aim to be the first U.S. synchronized team at any level to take home a gold medal at a World Championships.
Skyliners junior, with their impressive track record, are also ready to compete. They won bronze at the 2024 World Junior Championships and have medaled at every World Junior Championship since 2018, except for 2020 due to COVID-19. They have achieved silver twice, marking the best results for a U.S. junior team.
This season, Skyliners junior added a pair of bronze medals to their collection from international events, including a recent competition in the U.S.
The Lexettes have been named the first alternate, while Fond du Lac Blades are the second alternate for the event.
