Love for Star Wars is buzzing, especially with May 4th and “Revenge of the Fifth” celebrations. Fans are excited, and just in time, an intriguing announcement has dropped: Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic, a new single-player RPG set in the Old Republic era, is coming. This game was unveiled during The Game Awards 2025 and is the first to revisit this beloved timeframe since Star Wars: The Old Republic, released in 2011.
Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic is being developed by Arcanaut Studios, led by Casey Hudson, a former director at BioWare known for Knights of the Old Republic and Mass Effect. Many key developers from those classic games are also on board. For instance, Dan Fessenden, Melanie Faulknor, and Caroline Livingstone have all contributed to Knights of the Old Republic. They are joined by Pascal Blanché, the art director, and Ryan Hoyle, the chief technology officer.
This blend of experienced developers restores hope for fans who have long awaited a worthy successor to the original KotOR games. Hudson mentioned on LinkedIn, “Our team members come from different backgrounds but share a strong passion for Star Wars.” This makes it clear that they’re serious about creating an authentic experience.
What’s also fascinating is recent statistics. A survey showed that around 70% of gamers are excited about RPGs that explore rich lore and character development, just like the KotOR games did. This shows there’s a big appetite for this kind of storytelling in gaming today.
While there’s no release date yet, Hudson hinted that the game should be out before 2030. The anticipation is growing, and many fans are eager to return to a galaxy far, far away.
So, are you feeling excited about Fate of the Old Republic? The team’s impressive background certainly raises expectations. Let’s see what new adventures await us!
