Emmy Award-winning journalist Tony Dokoupil has been named the anchor of “CBS Evening News.” He’ll start on January 5, 2026. This marks an exciting new chapter for America’s longest-running nightly newscast, airing weekdays at 6:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
In his first month, Dokoupil will hit the road to engage with communities across the country. This hands-on approach builds on his two decades of journalism experience. He has a clear goal: to go where the stories unfold.

His on-the-ground coverage during major events, like the war in Ukraine and the January 6 insurrection, showcases his commitment to journalism.
