Pranab Mukherjee Memorial: The Central Government has ordered to construct a memorial of former President Pranab Mukherjee. His daughter Sharmistha Mukherjee has expressed gratitude to the Central Government and PM Modi for this choice. During this he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Sharmistha Mukherjee has posted photos of her assembly with the PM on Instagram. He wrote, “Met the Honorable Prime Minister. Heartfelt thanks and gratitude to PM Narendra Modi ji and his government for the decision to build a memorial for my Baba.”
Sharmistha Mukherjee stated, “We had not demanded this but despite this this decision was taken. I am extremely overwhelmed by this unexpected but gracious gesture of the Prime Minister.” He wrote, Baba used to say that one shouldn’t ask for state honour, it ought to be given. I’m very grateful that PM Modi did this in Baba’s reminiscence. It doesn’t matter to Baba the place he’s past reward or criticism. But there are not any phrases to precise this happiness for his daughter.”

What did the Central Government say within the order?
The Ministry of Urban and Housing, on behalf of the Central Government, has written in its order, “The competent authority has approved a designated area within the “Rashtriya Smriti” Complex (a part of the Rajghat Complex) for establishing the Samadhi of the former President of India, Late Shri Pranab Mukherjee. The site has been approved.”
