Memorial Service for Beloved Kansas City Sports Reporter Amid Ongoing Homicide Investigation

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Family and friends are mourning the loss of sports reporter Dennis Sharkey, Jr. He was killed just one day after celebrating his 50th birthday on January 10. Instead of a joyful gathering, those who loved him are now preparing to honor his life.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 25, at the Passantino Brothers Funeral Home, located at 2117 Independence Boulevard in Kansas City. The service will start at 1 p.m.

Meanwhile, investigators from the Platte County Sheriff’s Office continue to work on the case. They are particularly interested in information about the time between 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. on the evening of his death.
