Menomonee Falls Football Team Rallies Community for Food Donations in Wake of Historic Flooding

Menomonee Falls High School’s football team recently turned their community practice into a heartfelt charity event. They collected non-perishable food items for families affected by the recent floods that hit the area hard.

This annual practice not only focuses on sports but also on helping the community. Tiffany Bohlmeier, a football parent, expressed the team’s commitment: “We are trying to do our best on and off the field for our community.”

The items collected will go to the Falls Area Food Pantry, which provides support to nearby communities like Germantown, Brookfield, and Richfield. Bohlmeier noted the significance of their efforts, saying, “Now we can bring all this together for them and hopefully help those who lost a lot.”

The scene on the streets has been tough, with many neighborhoods grappling with the aftermath of flooding. Sherri Mayer, another parent, shared her concern: “Driving here tonight and seeing people’s driveways filled with water-damaged items is really sad. Anything we can do to help is amazing.”

Community spirit doesn’t stop here. Head Football Coach Bobby Regent-Smith highlighted these moments as valuable learning experiences for the players. “They’ve got an opportunity to help people,” he said.

In recent years, community service has been gaining traction in school programs. According to a study by the National Youth Leadership Council, students who engage in service-learning tend to perform better academically and develop better teamwork and leadership skills.

Bohlmeier hopes this initiative will encourage others to take part in community service. The team is set to deliver the food items to the pantry on Thursday, showing that teamwork extends beyond the playing field.

As communities recover from disasters, small acts of kindness can make a big difference. This football team’s efforts highlight the importance of coming together during tough times.
