Men’s Tennis Player Gorzny Selected for Academic All-America First Team

Austin – Texas Men’s Tennis senior Sebastian Gorzny has been named to the 2025-26 Men’s Tennis Academic All-America First Team by College Sports Communicators (CSC), announced on Wednesday. This marks Gorzny’s second time earning Academic All-American honors, having achieved second-team recognition last year.

This is the fourth consecutive year that an Academic All-America team specific to tennis has been established, as it was previously included in a combined category for multiple sports. Each year, at least one Longhorn has been recognized, with Texas players winning Team Member of the Year honors twice: Pierre-Yves Bailly last year and Eliot Spizzirri the prior year. Gorzny joins Spizzirri as a two-time honoree.

Other Texas players who have received the accolade in recent years include Lucas Brown on the second team last year, Micah Braswell on the first team in 2024, and Cleve Harper on the second team in 2023.

This year’s selection featured six players on the first, second, and third teams.

Gorzny, who achieved ITA All-America honors in singles this season, held a 3.93 GPA at the time of selection and completed his bachelor’s degree in Physical Culture and Sports from UT this semester.

This season, he contributed to Texas reaching the NCAA National Runner-Up finish, securing a second consecutive Final Four appearance, winning the program’s first ITA Indoors National Championship, and achieving back-to-back SEC regular season and tournament titles.

Gorzny finished ranked No. 2 in singles, marking the fourth consecutive year Texas has had a top-two player. He was named the Most Outstanding Player of the ITA National Indoor Championships and the Most Valuable Player of the SEC Championship, and received First Team All-SEC honors for the second consecutive year.

His overall singles record stands at 26-8, with a 20-6 record in dual matches at the No. 1 position and a 7-2 record in SEC play. He recorded seven victories against top-15 opponents and 13 against top-50 players, finishing second on the team with seven overall clinches.
