Meta Connect 2025: Key Insights and Surprises You Shouldn’t Miss!

Meta Connect 2025 kicks off on September 17 and 18. This annual conference is when Meta usually unveils new gadgets and updates to its software and content. Mark Zuckerberg is set to talk about advancements in AI glasses and Meta’s vision for artificial intelligence and the metaverse. There’s buzz about big announcements regarding wearables and software, thanks to comments from Meta’s CTO, Andrew Bosworth.

Details about what to expect are scarce, but various reports and Meta’s past patterns offer some clues.

Smart Glasses

One major focus could be Meta’s new smart glasses, codenamed Hypernova. These glasses are expected to feature a heads-up display in one eye, providing basic info like time and weather, capturing photos, and offering navigation help. Users might control these features through a wristband that detects finger movements.

Interestingly, these glasses won’t be augmented reality (AR) but rather a simpler form of wearable tech. Reports suggest they will weigh around 70 grams, making them lighter than some existing models. Initial pricing may start at $800, a drop from earlier estimates of over $1000.

Another product to watch for is the Oakley Meta Sphaera glasses, which aim to cater to athletes. These glasses will boast a centered camera for better recording capabilities.

Developer Tools

It seems likely that Meta will introduce a software development kit (SDK) for its smart glasses during the conference. This could open new avenues for developers to create apps specifically for these devices, promoting a rich ecosystem of tools and functionalities.

Three developer sessions scheduled for day two hint strongly at this potential announcement, suggesting that third-party apps might be on the horizon.

Headsets & Horizon OS

This year, however, Meta is not expected to unveil a new Quest headset. Although a collaboration was once planned for a lightweight headset, that has now been delayed to 2026. For now, the focus will likely remain on refining Horizon OS, their virtual reality environment.

Third-party headsets from companies like Asus and Lenovo may use Horizon OS, and there has been talk about a high-performance gaming headset, possibly from Asus. This could introduce exciting features, like face and eye tracking.

New Game Releases

As for gaming, Meta may not announce any blockbuster VR games at this event. Instead, they have been promoting titles at different events over the summer. The upcoming Deadpool VR game is one highlight, with a set launch date in November.

Industry Buzz

Looking beyond Meta, there’s a lot of speculation about what Valve might unveil. Will they sneak in an announcement about their upcoming headset, codenamed Deckard? Leaks mention a focus on wireless streaming, making it a potential game-changer in the VR space.

As the Meta Connect 2025 event approaches, excitement builds. The keynote will be streamed live, offering a chance for everyone to catch the latest in Meta’s innovations.
