Athens, Ohio—The Miami University volleyball team faced Ohio University in a tough match, losing in three sets (16-25, 27-25, 17-25, 17-25) last Saturday at the Convocation Center.
In the first set, Miami started strong with a 4-1 lead thanks to a kill from Molly Creech and a block by Gentry Warrick and Lauren Coyne. However, the Bobcats quickly caught up and took control with a score of 25-16.
The second set saw Miami fight back. Warrick’s kill and service ace gave them an early edge. With the score tied at 22, the RedHawks rallied with huge kills from Kreutz and Creech, ultimately winning the set 27-25.
In the third set, Miami showed determination, narrowing the lead to 19-15 with contributions from Creech and late kills from Warrick, but Ohio clinched the set 25-17.
The final set started poorly for Miami, as Ohio jumped to a quick 9-2 lead. Despite a spurt of energy from Williams, who scored three times, the Bobcats held their ground, winning the set 25-17.
Notably, Kreutz shone for Miami, achieving a career-high eight kills.
Looking ahead, Miami will play two home games against Kent State on October 16 and 17 at 6:30 p.m. This will be an important opportunity to bounce back and regain momentum in the MAC.
