In a candid interview with People magazine, the 72-year-old shared how this experience has changed his perspective. He now finds it easier to feel comfort and appreciates life more deeply. “It gives me a heightened sense of appreciation,” he explained.

Bolton faced a serious diagnosis of glioblastoma, a rapid-growing cancer affecting the brain or spinal cord, according to the Mayo Clinic. Luckily, doctors successfully removed the tumor during emergency surgery. However, he later needed a second procedure due to an infection.

Last year, he announced on his Facebook page that he had a tumor that required immediate attention, leading him to pause his tours. After surgery, he focused on healing and recovery at home.

Following radiation and chemotherapy, Bolton now gets MRI scans every couple of months to check for any signs of recurrence. In April, he received the great news that his latest scan was clear.

Family support has been crucial. Bolton spends quality time with his three daughters and six grandchildren at his Connecticut home during his recovery. He emphasized the importance of not feeling alone during tough times, stating, “Whenever you find yourself in any kind of challenging position, just to know that you’re not alone going through it is a big deal.”

As a legendary singer from the 1980s and ’90s, Bolton is known for hits like “When a Man Loves a Woman” and “How Am I Supposed to Live Without You?” His journey reflects not only resilience but also the value of community and support, shining a light on how personal battles can influence outlooks on life.
