Kiciński, a key figure in Poland’s gaming industry, launched GOG in 2008. He believes in the core philosophy of GOG: bringing classic games back to life while ensuring players have eternal access to their purchases. “GOG was founded on strong values. We wanted to provide gamers with a collection of timeless titles,” he explained.
With this new ownership, GOG plans to keep its independent spirit. The platform will continue its commitment to supporting gamers and developers, and Kiciński is excited about the future. “CD PROJEKT and GOG share the same roots. We aim to make GOG the best platform for our games, including the beloved The Witcher series and Cyberpunk titles,” he said.
Kiciński also emphasized the joy of playing classic games. He feels that well-designed older games can be just as fun as new releases. “In a world full of mediocre games, classic titles often stand out. GOG is committed to preserving these, and we have new retro-inspired projects lined up for 2026,” he added.

GOG has been part of the CD PROJEKT family for over 17 years, collaborating on major projects like The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077. This transition comes as CD PROJEKT aims for growth and innovation in their game lineup. “GOG has thrived independently for some time. Kiciński’s acquisition of GOG is valued at PLN 90.7 million and financed entirely through secured funding. Even after selling GOG, a distribution agreement ensures future CD PROJEKT RED titles will still be available on the platform.
