Power Play Prowess: Michigan’s Victory Over Notre Dame
The University of Michigan’s ice hockey team, ranked second in the nation, kicked off their conference play with a thrilling 5-3 win against Notre Dame. The game, held at Compton Family Ice Arena, showcased a strong performance, particularly on power plays.

Michigan maintained their composure and closed the final period strongly. A power play led to another goal by Hughes, who tied for 50th on the all-time scoring list for Michigan. Despite Eugene Werner of Notre Dame scoring again, it wasn’t enough to overcome Michigan’s lead.
While Notre Dame had more total shots and faceoff wins, Michigan’s teamwork and strategic power plays proved decisive. This win marks Michigan’s ninth victory in the last ten matchups against Notre Dame.
