Hundreds of Microsoft 365 users are frustrated over issues with popular apps like Outlook and Teams. Users took to social media to share their confusion and experiences.
One user posted a blank screen while trying to access Outlook on her Android. Another expressed their dissatisfaction with Microsoft Word, asking if it has always been this problematic. Some users reported strange glitches, like a memory issue with Outlook consuming excessive RAM.
Data from Downdetector shows that complaints surged around 6:30 PM EST, with over 1,400 reports. Most complaints, about 59%, were related to Outlook, while 26% concerned login issues, and 15% dealt with general website problems.
Microsoft responded to the outages, stating, “We’re having issues, but we’re working on it.” They acknowledged that Teams is down and indicated that users might face intermittent crashes on the desktop app. The company is rolling out a fix and expects to resolve issues by June 18, 2025.
Despite claims that Outlook is operational, many users continue to report problems with the email service. On Friday, Microsoft provided a "workaround" for Outlook crashes, suggesting users create a specific folder to help mitigate the issues.
An online document from Microsoft confirmed that crashes occur when the app cannot open the Forms Library. This problem affects all Microsoft 365 Office channels and is particularly noticeable on virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI). The support team is actively investigating these concerns and will update users as new information becomes available.
With over two million companies using Microsoft 365 worldwide, including over a million in the U.S. alone, the impact of these outages is significant. As trends in workplace technology shift, reliable software is more crucial than ever for businesses. It’s important for tech giants like Microsoft to address these issues swiftly to maintain user trust.
