Milestone Achieved: Last Timber Beam Installed at Upper Macungie Township Community Center!

Upper Macungie Township Community Center Takes Shape

Exciting things are happening in Upper Macungie Township as the new Community Lifestyle Center rises up. Recently, a significant milestone was marked with a ceremonial timber placement. This isn’t just any building—it’s aimed to be the heart of the community.

Jeff Fleischaker, the chairman of the township board, described the center as “the crown jewel” of the area. It’s not just about the structure; it symbolizes a long-cherished desire for a common space where people can gather and engage. As Fleischaker put it, “This is more than just a building. It’s a place for year-round activities.”

The center, costing $47 million and spanning 188,000 square feet, will feature a range of facilities. Highlights include a large artificial turf soccer field, basketball and volleyball courts, lounges, a fitness area, and meeting rooms. There will also be a separate section aimed at hosting bigger events—everything from concerts to cooking classes.

What to Expect

Families and individuals can look forward to membership pricing details coming out in May. The development process is a collaboration among the township, designers, and construction firms. Notably, StructureCraft is involved in crafting the facility with a focus on sustainability. Their timber framework not only cuts down the carbon footprint but also provides a warm, inviting atmosphere.

Light wood framing started in September, and the project is set to open in the summer of 2026. With ongoing construction, the project managers expect to finish the main structure soon, with the final timber beam anticipated to be placed by mid-December.

Community Enthusiasm

Local leaders are enthusiastic about the project. Dave Jaindl, from Jaindl Farms Co., expressed pride in working on this endeavor, emphasizing that Upper Macungie Township is the perfect spot for such a facility. The positive sentiments are echoed throughout the community, where many are eager to see the final result.

This center represents not just an investment in infrastructure but a commitment to building community ties. As plans unfold, there’s strong anticipation about how this facility will enhance local life.
