Millie Bobby Brown is making waves in the media by calling out tabloid culture that critiques her appearance as she ages. Recently, on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, the 21-year-old star of “Stranger Things” shared her experiences with host Alex Cooper. She noted that the press often comments on her looks, suggesting she appears much older than her age.
“It’s funny because people forget I started acting when I was just 10 years old,” Brown remarked. “Now that I’m 21, of course, my looks have changed. You can’t expect someone to stay the same forever!”
Despite the harsh scrutiny, she stated the negative comments don’t truly bother her anymore. “I used to let it affect me,” she admitted. “But now, I’ve embraced who I am. Yes, my accent has changed, and I wear makeup. That’s just me growing up.”
On her Instagram, she called out certain media figures for their bullying remarks about her body and choices. “I’ve grown up in front of everyone. Yet, some people want me to remain the same as I was in Season 1,” she wrote. In her conversation with Cooper, Brown expressed her dismay at the continuing judgment young women face. “It’s shocking that this kind of scrutiny is still acceptable,” she said. “If I could change anything about this situation, I would. It shifts how you see the world and the people around you.”

According to a recent study released by the Pew Research Center, 63% of young women have faced online harassment, particularly regarding their appearance. This alarming statistic shows just how pervasive the issue is.
Brown pointed out that ‘the press needs to learn some manners’. She believes kindness and understanding should replace judgment. “We all make mistakes, and we’re all growing. The standards placed on women are just absurd,” she concluded.
As she promotes her new Netflix film, “The Electric State,” which stars Chris Pratt, Brown has found her voice as an advocate. During an appearance on “The Tonight Show,” she explained how she decided it was finally time to stand up against negative portrayals in the media. “For too long, I kept making excuses to remain silent. But when is the right moment for a woman to speak out?”
