MILWAUKEE — The exciting world of speed skating is back in Milwaukee with the ISU World Cup. It’s been almost two decades since this major event last graced the city, and fans couldn’t be happier.
The competition began on Friday at the Pettit National Ice Center, attracting top athletes from across the globe. Among the spectators was Dawn Stoppelmoor, who came to cheer on her son, Zach. She shared her thoughts on the sport’s demands.

“People don’t realize the level of dedication these skaters have,” she explained. “They train two to three times a day for almost a whole year, with just a month off.”
