New Delhi: The Ministry of Defence recently took a stand against misleading videos on social media that claimed the Indian LCA Tejas experienced an “oil leakage” at the Dubai Air Show 2025. The Ministry highlighted that these false narratives aim to tarnish the reputation of the aircraft, which has a strong track record of technical reliability.
In a recent update on X, the Ministry said, “These videos are #Fake.” They clarified that what was being seen in the videos was simply the intentional draining of condensed water from the aircraft’s Environmental Control System (ECS) and On-Board Oxygen Generating System (OBOGS). This is a normal procedure, especially in humid environments like Dubai.
The Dubai Air Show, held from November 17-18, 2025, showcased India’s diverse defence and aerospace capabilities. The Indian Air Force participated with impressive displays, including the Suryakiran Aerobatic Team and the LCA Tejas. Union Minister of State for Defence, Sanjay Seth, led the Indian delegation and met with his UAE counterpart to explore enhanced defence cooperation.
During the event, Minister Seth also organized an industry roundtable with around 50 companies from various countries, including India, the UAE, and the US. The focus was on advancing defence technology collaboration and expanding manufacturing opportunities in India. Key Indian firms, such as Bharat Forge, BrahMos, and HBL Engineering, were present and showcased their innovations.
The Dubai Air Show is a major event that attracts over 1,500 exhibitors and around 148,000 industry experts from 150 nations. It features prominent global players like Bombardier and Airbus, highlighting the continuous advancements in aerospace technology.
Interestingly, discussions on social media revealed mixed reactions to the recent claims. While many defended the capabilities of the Tejas, others expressed concern about misinformation spreading quickly online. This incident underscores the need for vigilant fact-checking and reliable information sources in our digital age.
As technology evolves, military aircraft like the Tejas are becoming increasingly integral to national defense. They not only represent a country’s technological prowess, but are also vital for international collaboration and partnerships in defense.
