Meet Colby Redding, a 10-year-old entrepreneur with a big heart. This month, he launched his yard cleaning business, Helping Hands, to make a difference. Colby noticed many people lack gluten-free food options and wanted to help food pantries provide for those with dietary needs.

“I didn’t want people to go without gluten-free foods,” Colby shared. He and his mom, Tanisha, frequently visit Superior Nutrition and have chosen to support its community pantry. “It’s great to provide something they might not usually receive,” Tanisha said.

Colby’s interest in business came from school lessons. “I’m blown away by how he put it all together,” Tanisha said, proudly backing her son’s initiative. Inspired by a friend who started a business at the same age, Colby now believes he can achieve anything.

His services include cleaning up leaves and weeds, with plans to tackle snow shoveling in winter. Colby envisions his business growing step by step. “I’ll start with neighbors and then expand,” he explained.

Tanisha is there to help Colby manage his business, ensuring it moves at his own pace. Colby accepts donations for his services, with plans to save some for himself and donate to his church and local organizations.

Colby’s story reflects a broader trend in today’s youth. According to a recent survey by Junior Achievement, 70% of kids aged 8-18 express a desire to start their own business one day. This spirit of entrepreneurship isn’t just about making money; it’s about community and giving back, just like Colby.
