Minutewomen Dominate Longwood 5-0 for Their Sixth Shutout Victory

No. 16 Massachusetts field hockey team dominated Longwood, winning 5-0 at the Gladchuk Field Hockey Complex. This victory marked their sixth shutout of the season, placing them second in the nation and first in the Mid-American Conference.

The Minutewomen faced the Lancers for the first time and earned their inaugural win against them. Freshman Emily Barrett shined by scoring two goals, bringing her season total to seven. Megan Carpenter started the scoring, netting her first-ever goal. Elena Clococeanu and Lina Kroeger added to the tally, both benefiting from penalty corners.

Defensively, grad student Clococeanu recorded her sixth defensive save, leading the nation in this category. Myrte van Herwijnen made one save, facing four shots throughout the match. Longwood’s goalkeeper, Sophie Mooldijk, was busy, making 10 saves to keep the game from becoming even more lopsided.
