Miracle in Action: Anonymous Donor Supercharges Vernon Christian School Campaign

Vernon Christian School is excited to announce a generous offer. An anonymous donor has pledged to match donations for their Make Way expansion project, up to $400,000. This challenge runs until June 1, aiming to help the school reach its $2 million target for starting the expansion.

So far, the school has raised $1.2 million. Steve Gutknecht, the school’s director of development, expressed hope in meeting this challenge. “If we do, we can begin construction as soon as we get the necessary permits,” he stated. The permit process is already in progress, and the overall fundraising goal stands at $3 million.

The school’s expansion plans, announced in January, include new classrooms, a gym for high school students, and more parking space. This growth is vital as enrollment has surged by 50% over the last decade. Currently, the school serves 470 students from Kindergarten to Grade 12, and they are nearing full capacity.

The goal is to start construction this year. Funding for the project will come from a mix of mortgage financing and charitable donations, and a major capital campaign is actively seeking support for the Make Way initiative.

Vernon Christian School has been a part of the community since 1977 and also offers a preschool program for three- and four-year-olds. This expansion will help them continue providing quality education and meet the needs of their growing student body.
